Only one species
of mammal lives at the Tennessee Aquarium,
the river otters. The river otter is made for swimming and living
in cold mountain streams. A member of the weasel family, it has
an elongated body, short legs, webbed feet and a long stout tail.
Mammals are a class of endothermic (able to generate their own body
heat) vertebrates having a body covered with hair or fur, a four-chambered
heart and possessing mammary glands which produce milk for their
offspring.
