Monarchs and Whales
January 24 - January 29, 2010

Visit the world-class Monterey Bay Aquarium with a behind the scenes tour and stroll through historic Cannery Row.  Search for migrating Gray whales and dolphins on a whale watch, enjoy wine tastings at a fine vineyard, explore the scenic Big Sur, Carmel and the rugged coastal atmosphere.  Witness the phenomenon of thousands of colorful migrating Monarch butterflies clustering in thick bunches in the pines and eucalyptus trees at the Monarch Sanctuary in Pacific Grove, California, “Butterfly Town, USA.”  Located at the tip of the Monterey Peninsula, this is one of the very few locations west of the Rockies where these flying jewels spend the winter.

Snorkel with the Manatees Weekend

We will also visit the Homosassa Springs State Wildlife Park. New Zealand
A "World in Miniature"
Gardens, Glow Worms and Maoris, from Aukland to Queenstown
January 29 - February 14, 2010

New Zealand is a unique land of remarkable contrasts and amazing beauty on two distinct islands, from golden beaches to undulating hills and mountains, to bustling cities and small country towns with friendly kiwi hospitality.  Travel through breathtaking landscapes as we tour innovative gardens, from small private urban displays, to large country estates and two internationally renowned gardens, visit the famed glow worm caves and meet a family of indigenous Maori artists.  Explore the subtropical North Island with its lush native flora, contrasted with the South Island’s cold-climate alpine gardens.  On several occasions we will dine with the owners who will welcome us to their homes.  Join us for a truly authentic experience in the garden paradise of the South Pacific.
