Antarctica
January 29 – February 11, 2009
You can still join our expedition to Antarctica, where a vast array of wildlife flourishes, including thousands of penguins in their natural habitat. Our voyage takes place during the austral summer, when the days are long and relatively mild, when seabirds are courting and massive icebergs thaw into beautiful sculptures of brilliant form and color. Each day presents a new discovery, whether we’re cruising through ice-filled channels, observing crowded penguin rookeries or viewing minke and humpback whales cavorting in the sparkling waters. Our small ship’s maneuverability allows for in-depth discovery, while her fleet of Zodiac landing craft provides up-close viewing with a team of expert naturalists and lecturers to ensure a rewarding educational journey in this vast and remote wilderness.

Grand Canyon Family Adventure
July 29 – Aug. 1, 2009

Combine glorious western scenery with cowboy culture during this four-day Grand Canyon adventure. From Las Vegas, fly in a small plane to the Bar 10 Ranch for an afternoon of ranch activities – including horseback riding, horseshoe pitching, hiking and skeet shooting. Finish the day with an evening of country entertainment and overnight at the lodge. The next morning, fly by helicopter into the Grand Canyon to meet your professional, experienced guides from O.A.R.S. at Whitmore Wash. Board rafts and head into the first of several medium-to-low-intensity rapids on this 38-mile section of the Colorado River. We will cross the shattered Hurricane fault zone before heading west into the final majesty of the Lower Grand Canyon. Each night you’ll camp along the river’s edge with opportunities to hike and explore this exquisite desert wonderland. We will take-out at Diamond Creek and return to Las Vegas by van.

Open to the first 16 adults and children ages 7+.
Please reserve by January 26 to secure your space.

Butterflies, Whales and Wine
February, 2009

Witness the over-wintering phenomenon of thousands of colorful migrating Monarch butterflies clustering in thick bunches in the pines and eucalyptus trees of Pacific Grove, California. This coastal Victorian town at the tip of the Monterey Peninsula, known as “Butterfly Town, U.S.A.,” is one of the very few locations west of the Rockies where these flying jewels spend the winter. We will visit the world-class Monterey Aquarium, search for migrating Gray Whales, dolphins and Killer Whales on a whale watch in Monterey Bay, enjoy a wine tasting at a local vineyard, explore the famous 17-Mile Drive of Pebble Beach and enjoy the rugged coastal atmosphere. Call for dates and further details as they develop.
