Dive
Into Winter” at the Tennessee Aquarium
No jive – new holiday offerings get the
high five
with creatures featured in Ocean Journey
CHATTANOOGA,
Tenn. (Oct. 27, 2005) – “Dive Into Winter”
is a Tennessee Aquarium tradition that’s getting a cool
new twist just in time for the holidays. This year visitors
can experience a host of new treats in both the River Journey
and the new Ocean Journey buildings.
The
highlight of “Dive Into Winter” is
the Aquarium’s narrated dive shows, and this year the
dives will take place in the new saltwater Secret Reef tank,
home to enormous sand tiger sharks and thousands of colorful
reef fish. During the Secret Reef dives, Aquarium guests will
learn more about this habitat, its animals and also will hear
from our diver inside the exhibit. (SPECIAL NOTE – Due
to the dangerous nature of the feeding behaviors of the sharks,
these will NOT be feeding dives.)
In
addition, visitors can watch as Aquarium staff feed the small
bamboo sharks and stingrays in the Shark Island exhibit, observe
butterfly releases and learn more about the beautiful hyacinth
macaws. In the River Journey building, guests can observe working
dives in River Journey’s Nickajack and Gulf of Mexico
exhibits, watch the seahorses slurp their supper and take a
behind-the-scenes tour of both buildings. Gallery programs throughout
the day give guests an up-close look at the behaviors and adaptations
of other aquarium creatures.
