Tennessee
Aquarium undergoes a retail renaissance
It's
a brand-new look for the Aquarium's gift shop
CHATTANOOGA,
Tenn. (February 24, 1999) - With a new, colorful floor plan and
whimsical animal decorations, the Tennessee Aquarium's renovated
gift shop is again open for business.
The gift shop's grand reopening celebration will be Friday, March
5, from 6:30-9 p.m. This fun-filled event is open to the public
and will feature local craftspeople, special entertainment and
door prizes. Costumed characters will be on hand to entertain
the children. Aquarium members will enjoy a 20 percent discount
on all items during the event, and non-members will receive a
10 percent discount.
Soft lighting and colorful details make the transition from the
Aquarium exhibits to the redesigned gift shop a smooth one. Local
artist, Judy Mogul, created the new fish mobile in the center
of the shop and several of the display cases. The gift shop design,
created by Bergmeyer Associates of Boston, makes shopping easier
and more efficient for Aquarium visitors.
The new floor plan also provides five distinct shopping sections.
Shoppers can explore the Knowledge section for books, videos
and stationary. For the young children, the Small Fry area
offers stickers, stuffed animals and Sally Mander's sing along
tapes and CDs. Local artists are featured in the Habitat
display, which includes beautiful wood designs as well as pottery
with a nature theme. Gifts made exclusively for the Tennessee
Aquarium can be found in the Souvenirs section.
The gift shop also features an expanded jewelry collection with
everything from butterfly earrings to frog bracelets. A new line
of bath and body products is available, along with collections
of scented candles and incense.
