Start your engines -- “NASCAR 3D: The IMAX Experience”
opens May 28 at the Tennessee Aquarium IMAX® 3D Theater
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (May 3, 2004) – Get in
the driver's seat to experience the heart-pounding thrills of
stock cars racing at breakneck speeds of up to 200 miles per
hour. Narrated by Kiefer Sutherland, “NASCAR 3D: The IMAX
Experience” provides an insider's perspective of the nation's
number one spectator sport.
First shift into reverse and review the history
of the legendary sport, told from the viewpoint of some of its
most revered drivers. Then thrust into high gear with a look
at the thrilling spectacle that is NASCAR today. The film also
features rare behind-the-scenes glimpses and gripping footage
of the unpredictable action on the track. NASCAR 3D will reveal
what motivates NASCAR drivers both in and out of competition.
The film also examines the intricate science of
racing technology, the cutting-edge machines, the teamwork that
binds it together and the underlying physics that drivers depend
on to race at unbelievable speeds while skillfully maneuvering
mere inches from their competitors.
NASCAR may have gotten its start in the South,
but this sport is no longer just a regional phenomenon. The
sport has 75 million adult fans, and races often draw larger
crowds than a Super Bowl, NBA Finals game and World Series game
combined.
"With the IMAX experience putting you in
the driver's seat at a series of exciting NASCAR races, you
can virtually feel the speed of the cars and the thunder of
the engines,” said Kiefer Sutherland. “Besides being
a driver or part of the crew, IMAX is the best way to experience
NASCAR action."
Jimmie Johnson, the 2003 series runner up, added,
“If you want to know what it’s really like to be
a NASCAR driver, this film is a must-see experience.”
Packed with heart pounding, behind-the-wheel action,
extraordinary in-car footage and edge-of-your seat racing, “NASCAR
3D: The IMAX Experience” delivers high-speed thrills at
every turn. Start your engines!
