Hermit Thrush

Both sexes are mostly pale brown with a creamy white breast containing small black spots concentrated on throat and breast. This species of brown thrush has a reddish tail which it constantly flicks along with its wings.
This is the only species of brown thrush that regularly spends the winter in our area. On it's breeding territory its flute-like call is considered among the most beautiful of bird songs. Breeds in the SE US in the high Appalachians.

Protected by the Migratory Bird Act and their population remains stable.
