FUN FACTS
Japanese pond turtle females can lay up to four clutches per year.  The number of eggs per clutch depends on the size of the female and ranges from three to eight.  This species is part of the Tennessee Aquarium’s Asian Turtle Breeding Program and has successfully reproduced here.

CONSERVATION
Its population has decreased somewhat due to habitat loss, but it is not yet considered a threatened species.
